Meet Backwoods Drawing Salve, a dark, earthy addition to the Woods of Whimsy Apothecary Woodland Salve Collection.

Inspired by old-fashioned drawing salves and made with a thoughtfully selected blend of botanical-infused oils, activated charcoal, bentonite clay, and rich plant butters, Backwoods Drawing Salve was created for those moments when your skin could use a little extra attention.

We start with jojoba oil slowly infused with plantain and yarrow, two herbs with a long history of traditional topical use. We then blend in rich shea butter and castor oil to condition and soften the skin, along with beeswax to create a protective, easy-to-apply salve.

The characteristic deep charcoal color comes from activated charcoal and bentonite clay, giving this salve its traditional backwoods-inspired appearance.

🌿 Why We Chose These Ingredients

Plantain-Infused Jojoba Oil – Plantain (Plantago spp.) has a long history in traditional herbal skin preparations. Jojoba closely resembles the skin's natural sebum and provides lightweight conditioning without leaving the skin excessively greasy.

Yarrow-Infused Jojoba Oil – Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) has been valued by herbalists for generations and is traditionally incorporated into preparations intended to comfort and care for skin.

Castor Oil – A thick, deeply emollient botanical oil that helps soften and condition dry or stressed-feeling skin.

Shea Butter – Rich in naturally occurring fatty acids, shea butter helps moisturize, soften, and support the skin's protective barrier.

Beeswax – Gives the salve its protective consistency while forming a light occlusive layer that helps reduce moisture loss.

Activated Charcoal – Gives Backwoods Drawing Salve its distinctive black color and is commonly used in cleansing cosmetic preparations for its adsorptive properties.

How to Use

Apply a small amount to clean, dry, intact skin as needed and gently massage into the area. Because activated charcoal can transfer, consider covering the area or protecting light-colored clothing and fabrics after application.
